About Dr. Winfrey

Dr. Winfrey is a thought provoking and business practitioner rooted in the notion of improving one’s inner strengths to ensure a path to success and peace. He will leave your audience entertained, motivated, and interested in learning more. He can be consulted and contracted for a myriad of issues. As a speaker, he is passionate about mental illness in minorities, faith traditions, and communities. He has studied and currently treats issues of cultural conflict and is more than qualified to discuss cultural conflicts in America.  As a psychiatrist, he differs from other speakers in that he addresses the inner world of people struggling with conflict and can link it to distressing emotional states. Through empathy and compassion, he will address mental health issues differently than other speakers and offer solutions for reconciliation.

Career

Dr. Chris Winfrey completed his undergraduate education at the University of Central Arkansas. He graduated in May 2006 with a B.S. in Biology.

He completed his medical education at University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences(UAMS), College of Medicine, in May 2011 with his Medical Degree (M.D.)  While a medical student at the College of Medicine, he participated in research entitled, “Outcome of Metabolic Syndrome in Elderly Patients Receiving Treatment with Atypical Antipsychotics,” through the UAMS Institute on Aging, Little Rock Arkansas.

During his early education, Dr. Winfrey was an active volunteer for organizations attempting to enhance the lives of citizens of all ages in Arkansas. To name a few:

  1. Panelist for University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, Sponsored by “Talented Tenth” University of Arkansas Pine Bluff “Rethinking W.E.B. conception of the Talented Tenth,” November 2009.
  2. Student National Medical Association, Arkansas, August 2007-May 2011.
  3. Under Construction, Little Rock, Arkansas,December 2005-May 2007. This project helped low-income families with beds for children, food, and relational support.
  4. Young Life, Arkansas Branch, December 2005–May 2007. This program helped with development of Inner City Urban middle and high school programs.

After completing his medical training, he finished his residency training in the specialty of psychiatry at the University of Texas at Southwestern and Cooper Medical School of Rowan University.  During his residency, he held significant positions: Associate Chief Resident of Education and Patient Safety Committee in which he was responsible for developing curriculum and teaching residents and medical students.
